Getting started

Your first project.

PXM brings local sites, runtimes, and services into a native macOS workspace. The public licensed release is currently being prepared; this guide describes the intended PXM setup flow.

Install and activate

Download the signed installer from the download page, move PXM to Applications, and open it. Enter the license key from your PXM account. An active license is required for productive use.

Add a project

In Sites, link an existing project folder or create a Laravel, WordPress, or static site. You can also add a watched project folder. PXM discovers its immediate child projects and can start them automatically; turn that setting off if you prefer to start projects yourself.

Choose its runtime

Install a PHP or Node version from the corresponding area of the app. Set a workspace default, then choose a different version for an individual site when needed. An explicit project pin takes priority over the default.

Give it a local address

Enable PXM’s local routing helper to use .test addresses. macOS may ask you to approve the helper. If another development app owns the local HTTP or DNS ports, review the conflict and stop its routing services before switching.

Turn on HTTPS for the site and approve the local certificate authority when macOS asks. This trust is for local development on your computer.

Open your site

Select the site and choose Open. If a framework needs dependencies, environment variables, or database migrations, complete that project’s setup before expecting it to serve a working application.

Next: PHP, Node, and extensions.
