Your agent. At home in your workspace.

Your coding agent can read the code. PXM helps it understand the environment running it.

Connect your agent to your sites, runtimes, services, and logs, without copying every setting into a conversation.

01What it can do

The environment belongs
in the conversation.

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, lets AI clients discover and use tools. PXM connects those tools to your running development environment.

Live context

What your agent reads.

The site's configuration, runtime pins, local URL, and live status, exactly as the app shows them. Every answer comes from the running workspace, not from a copy you pasted into the conversation.

Prompt

debug_site

Required argument: site. Combines configuration with recent logs, labelled untrusted.

Transport: stdio, newline-delimited JSON-RPC 2.0, 1 MB per message. Protocol versions 2025-06-18 by default, with 2025-03-26 and 2024-11-05. Capabilities: tools, resources, and prompts.

Not included: a shell. Runtime commands such as pxm php stay in Terminal. There are no park, url, open, debug, or coverage tools.

Public sharing needs confirmPublic=yes. Dashboard connectors need acceptDashboard=yes. Every request is checked for an active Pro license through the running app.

03In practice

Ask for the next useful thing.

Use your own project names in place of Atlas.

Check Atlas's PHP version, local URL, and recent logs before changing anything.

pxm_site_details, pxm_site_logs

Show my installed Node versions. Stop Atlas, pin my chosen version, then restart it.

pxm_runtimes, pxm_stop_site, pxm_pin_node, pxm_start_site

Start Atlas's queue worker and show its latest logs.

pxm_start_project_task, pxm_project_task_logs

Share Atlas publicly through Cloudflare and give me the live URL.

pxm_start_share, pxm_shares

These are example requests. Your client determines how it presents tools and requests approval.

04Setup

Connect once. Keep building.

  1. 1
    Open PXM on your Mac and activate PXM Pro.
  2. 2
    Open your AI client's MCP configuration.

    It needs support for local stdio servers.

  3. 3
    Add PXM's executable and the mcp argument, then reconnect the client.

For clients that use an mcpServers JSON configuration:

mcpServers configuration
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pxm": {
      "command": "/Applications/PXM.app/Contents/MacOS/pxm-cli",
      "args": ["mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Installed elsewhere? Use PXM's full executable path. Your client may use a different format with the same command and argument.

Keep PXM running. Ask your agent to list your sites to check the connection. Setup is currently manual.

05Before you connect

Know what your agent can access.

Does everything stay on my Mac?
PXM's MCP server communicates locally over stdio. Your client may send returned information to its AI provider. Logs, paths, and connection settings can contain sensitive information, including local credentials.
Can the agent make changes?
Yes. PXM provides specific management tools, not an arbitrary shell. Starting Node sites or project tasks and installing dependencies can execute project code. Use your client's approval controls.

06A few details

A few details before you connect.

Can it inspect captured queries and dumps?

Not through MCP yet. Agents can check, start, pause, resume, and stop capture for already connected projects. Captured query, job, dump, and HTTP event contents are viewed in PXM.

Will it publish my sites automatically?

No. Public sharing requires an explicit request and confirmation. Dashboard tunnels also require acceptance of their configured routes.

Does it work without Pro?

No. The MCP server checks for an active Pro license through the running app on every request. The rest of the pxm command line, apart from services, capture, debug, and coverage, is Free.
